WARM MINERAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA
..... is listed as a national historic site in the "National Register of Historic Places". Our waters contain the highest levels of mineral content of any known spring in the United States and the third highest in the World. The spring produces over 9 million gallons of fresh mineral rich waters daily, (Baden Baden, Germany, and Hot Springs, Ark. produce only 2.5 to 3.0 millon gallons daily) at an average temperature of 87 degrees. When the early Spanish explorers first arrived on the eastern coast of Florida
in search of the treasures of the new world, they became aware of a fabulous
legend of a spring with incredible restorative and therapeutic powers. When
their initial searches for the fabled site proved unsucessful, Ponce de Leon,
their leader, prepared for a return voyage to the west coast of Florida, to
what is now the Port Charlotte /North Port area, to continue his search. This
is where he was mortally wounded in his quest for the legendary site.
